Overhead Sewer Cost-Share Program

If your home has ever had the misfortune of sanitary sewer water backing up into the basement, you know that it's a disgusting mess to clean up, and an experience that no one wishes to repeat. Installing floor drain plugs, standpipes, and overhead sewers are possible prevention strategies.

The Village of Lisle offers a cost-share program for Village sewer customers who have experienced sanitary sewer backups and wish to convert to overhead sewers or install another backup prevention device. Of those who have participated to date, conversion costs have ranged from $3,000 to $6,000.

How the Program Works

The cost-share program works as follows:
  • As of May 1, 2018, the Village of Lisle will cost share with the homeowners on a 50-50 basis on the first $5,000 of the cost of installing an overhead sewer or other backup prevention device, up to a maximum of $2,500.
  • DuPage County may also cost share if your home is directly connected to a DuPage County sanitary sewer. Please contact Du Page County Sanitary District at 630-407-6800 for more information.
