Water Quality Permit

The Village’s goal is to protect water quality by reducing the amount of pollution that runs off lawns, parking lots and streets. Urban areas, including Lisle, that collect stormwater runoff in municipal storm sewers and discharge it into creeks and rivers are required to have a permit under the federal Clean Water Act.

NPDES Permit

This permit, called the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit, requires Lisle to create and implement a Stormwater Management Program (SWMP), which includes:

  • Public Education and Outreach
  • Public Involvement and Participation
  • Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
  • Runoff Control from New Development, Redevelopment and Construction Sites
  • Pollution Prevention
  • Operations and Maintenance
