Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony and Silent Convoy - Monday, May 31, 2021
Memorial Day is a special occasion in which we commemorate our fallen veterans. Each year, many of us look forward to the traditions of the parade, remembrance ceremony, and the community picnic. Lisle will be observing Memorial Day in a safe and unique while respecting and honoring those who have fallen. On Monday, May 31st, a convoy of vehicles with representatives from the Village of Lisle, Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, and the Lisle VFW Ross Bishop Post 5696, will participate in a silent convoy through Lisle. All participants will remain in their vehicles throughout the duration of the event. The 2021 Memorial Day Grand Marshal will be U.S. Navy Veteran, 2nd Class Petty Officer, Joseph F. Inserro.
The Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Lisle Veteran's Memorial at the corner of Center and School Streets, it will also be live streamed. Click here to register. By registering on the event page, you will receive the link to watch the virtual Remembrance Ceremony.
The convoy will kick off at 12:00 p.m. at Kennedy Junior High School and make its way north through the Village, finishing along Warrenville Road near the Sheraton Hotel. Individuals are encouraged to show their support by selecting a safe viewing location and adhering to social distancing and other safety guidelines. There will be no distribution of candy, flags or other items during the convoy. Spectators are encouraged to take a walk to the route or find a public parking lot along the route to park vehicles for viewing. Please remember to exercise all do precaution including standing at least 6 feet apart from one another and wearing face masks as needed.
